Woven Color Field Studies
Soft, round shapes, such as those in Ray Parker’s Simple Paintings in the 'color field' style, were described joyous, amoebic forms floating on a white background. They're simple, yes, but delightful.
In woven form, I could add physical softness to this joyful concept by creating lumpy hills of woolen texture. Different weights of yarns knotted together create depth, texture and energy. Single-tone blob-shapes stack and lean on each other. Joyful, tactile amoebas.
